A Beautiful Disaster

I'm disappointed. You think you know your heroes and their ambitions, but is seems that alot of times they let you down. In this case, however, I am reminded of God's faithfulness.

My heart is geared toward worship. I live for worship. It's the only time that I can give my entire self away and let my heart be completely free with the holy spirit. It changes my attitude and my heart, two entities which have lost contact almost entirely, to have the same desire: fellowship with God. It inspires my relationship and takes my faith to the next level. It joins my spirit and flesh into the same desires. A good example of one of my favorite worship songs is "Healer" by the Planet Shakers. The concept behind healer was to tie the healing message into the worship in an effort to create an outpouring of faith and confession of belief. Little did I know, this song had alot more healing message that we origionally thought.

To step aside for a second, I want to bring up the issue of the call of God and the plan for peoples lives and so on. Everyone is called. Few answer. I think that most of us can agree with this statement. I think I hear more about people neglecting the call of God on their lives because they want it all to be planned out and they want the outcome to be the "perfect will of God." I see this alot with young men in Bible college or after Bible college or in an internship who don't really know where they fit in to the ministry. They don't achieve higher education because they have not yet heard an audible voice from God and wonder why God isn't using them or why they arent married. There is a solution: Follow what you love and plan for your family. Do something that involves the gifts you know you have been given and don't let doubt or fear step in and start chomping away at your potential. Was Paul called to be a tent maker or was he a tent maker because he was called? he heard God and he knew God. And he was able to support himself as he answered his call.

I think God will use anyone who establishes themselves as willing. God can use anyone for his will no matter what sin they are in. God detests sin, but hes not going to not let you do what you are willing because of it. "Healer" was written by Mike Gugliemucci. His song goes like this:

You're my Healer
You hold my every moment
You calm my raging seas
You walk with me through fire
And heal all my disease

I trust in You
I trust in You
I believe You're my Healer
I believe You are all I need
I believe You're my Portion
I believe You're more than enough for me
Jesus You're all I need

My Healer, You're my Healer
Nothing is impossible for You
Nothing is impossible for You
Nothing is impossible for You
You hold my world in Your hands

Its hard to believe that the person who wrote this song was in sin. But we are human. Mike Gugliemucci confessed that his two-year battle with brain cancer was a lie. He never had it and was never healed of it. He also came forward confessing a 16 year pornography addiction. His wife had no idea. It was his own dark hidden sin.

I think we can conclude that this song is from heaven and that it originated from God. Now Mike is being healed of the underlying sickness that he had. He had no idea that power it had when he wrote it. God used him even though he was in sin. Then because of God's grace and mercy his sin was revealed and the healing process has now begun. what he did was terrible and there will be and has already been many worldly consiquences that have befallen him. However, we as christians are not of this World and because we have the knowlege that sin is in fact, sin, we have no business judging. Leaving the toilet seat up when mom told you not to is just as bad in Jesus' eyes.

He now says that the song was, in fact, inspired by that inner sickness of porn addiction that he was covering up with his cancer story. I hope the song can become an anthem for those who struggle with this same addiction, a prayer that they too will be healed of their idolatry and sin.

I wrote a post about it last week and I'd love to hear your thoughts! http://www.covenanteyes.com/blog/2008/08/28/pastor-confesses-to-16-year-porn-addiction/
